Generative Fill

Fundamentals

The Generative Fill tool, also known as Inpainting or Inpaint, allows you to create spot changes to an image. Kenna AI’s Generative Fill tool can do so much more than magically erase problem areas, you can literally change any aspect or element of an image. A Generative Fill is comprised of two components:

  • The masked area that you have drawn and want to target
  • The positive and negative prompt instructions to replace that area

In the first lesson, you learn how to Generate Images. Generative Fill takes that power and adds the ability to mask a specific portion of the image, so the rest of the image remains the same. You can replace any element of an image: a garment, an object, a background, and so on.

Try it out
  1. Open the Generative Fill tool
  2. Load an image
  3. Draw a mask by literally drawing over the image with your mouse or finger
  4. Write what you’d like to see replaced in that area
  5. Submit
Tweaking the results
Just like the Generate Image tool, you can slide the creativity and strictness levels of the Guidance threshold to control the results.
Repeating and speeding up mask workflows

Our Background Removal tool is a handy compliment to Generative Fill. You can also save and download the masks.
