User Guide: Generative Fill

Generative Fill

Mask and Edit with Precision

  1. Select the Generative Fill tool and upload the image you would like to edit with AI. In this example, we will use a product image of a coffee mug.

2. Masking Tool. Upon uploading your image, you are presented with the masking tool.

  • The masking tool turns your cursor into a red paint brush.
  • Click and drag your cursor to mask over the area that you would like to render within. In this example, we will be removing the letters “NYC” from the coffee mug. The below mask has been created.

3. The masking tool controls at the bottom of your workspace window allow you to control the size of your paint brush.

5. The controls also allow you to manage the size of your eraser if you need to remove portions of your mask.

6. Write your prompt! Be descriptive about what you would like to see within the masked area of your image. NOTE: Any area not masked will remain unchanged.

  • Our positive prompt will be “a black matte coffee mug”
  • Our negative prompt will be “letters, logo”
IMPORTANT: Notice we are not typing “remove the logo”, or “get rid of the letters”.  We are describing our output image and placing elements we do not want, in the negative prompt field

7. Guidance. Guidance controls how closely your generated output follows your prompt

8. Click Create.

Our logo has now disappeared! This means anyone can now create and edit images using just text—no design or creative skills required.
